FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8]

Caution

• If a hand or tool touches the fuel injector terminal, the fuel injector might be damaged. To prevent this, do not touch the terminal.

• If high-voltage generating parts or components and electronic devices come near a fuel injector, the fuel injector could be damaged. To prevent damage to a fuel injector, always keep high-voltage generating parts or components and electronic devices away from it.

Visual Inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2. Remove the fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

3. Visually inspect the fuel injector for the following:

• Damage, cracks, soiling

― If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the fuel injector. (See FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)
