Warning
•  High temperature exhaust gas is emitted during compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration. People near the vehicle could be seriously burned, or flammable objects could catch fire. Always perform compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration away from people and flammable objects.
•  If large amounts of exhaust gas are inhaled, it may cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Always perform compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration in a well-ventilated place (avoid using an exhaust air duct indoors and perform compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration in the open air).
Caution
•  The temperature in the trunk compartment increases because high temperature exhaust gas is emitted during gasoline particulate filter regeneration. If an object which can be easily damaged by heat is in the trunk compartment such as an electronic device, it could be damaged by the temperature increase. If compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration is performed, do not place objects such as electronic devices which can be easily damaged by heat in the trunk compartment.

1.  Park the vehicle in a well-ventilated place with no obstructions, such as a wall, around the tailpipe.

2.  Perform the following procedure to meet the conditions to perform compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration.

(1)  Inspect for PCM-related DTCs. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
•  If a DTC other than P2463:00 is stored, perform the applicable DTC troubleshooting and then compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration.
(2)  Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
(3)  Open the hood.
(4)  Turn off the following systems to which electrical load is applied.
•  Lighting systems such as headlights.
•  A/C
•  Rear window defogger
(5)  Allow the engine coolant temperature to reach 80 degrees C {176 degrees F} or more.

3.  Select [Compulsory regenerating GPF] using the M-MDS.

4.  Verify that the engine speed has increased and compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration has started.

Note
•  It takes approx. 1 hour for compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration to complete.
•  Once compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration has started, the M-MDS can be removed.
•  If any of the following conditions is met, compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration is canceled. It is necessary to perform the compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration again.
―  Accelerator pedal: Depressed
―  ATX: Shift the selector lever to the D position.
―  MTX: Shift the shift lever to a position other than the neutral position.

5.  Verify that the engine speed has decreased and compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration has been completed.

6.  Verify that the gasoline particulate filter warning indication/warning light is off.

•  If the gasoline particulate filter warning indication/warning light is on or flashing, perform compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration again.

7.  Clear the DTC. (See CLEARING DTC.)
