• If the fuel injector is replaced, always perform fuel injection amount learning using the M-MDS.
Note
• If the PCM is replaced, fuel injection amount learning not using the M-MDS can also be performed.

• The fuel injection amount learning, which is different from normal fuel learning, is a function to learn individual differences of the fuel injector characteristics.
When using M-MDS
1. Perform the following procedure to meet the implementation conditions for fuel injection amount learning.
(1) Shift the selector lever to the P position (ATX)/shift the shift lever to the N position (MTX).
(2) Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
(3) Maintain the engine speed at 2,500—3,000 rpm and completely warm up the engine.
2. Select [Learning injection amount for fuel injector] using the M-MDS.
3. Verify that the vehicle is under the following conditions.
• Engine coolant temperature: 60 degrees C {140 degrees F} or more
• Catalytic converter temperature: 850 degrees C {1,562 degrees F} or less
• Fuel temperature: 90 degrees C {194 degrees F} or less
• Charged capacity of M Hybrid battery: 65% or less
― If the charged capacity of the M Hybrid battery is higher than 65%, race the engine.
Note
• When the engine is raced for approx. 5 min, the charged capacity can be lowered approx. 15%.
• When systems (such as A/C, headlights) which apply electrical load are turned on, the charged capacity can be lowered more quickly.
4. Perform the fuel injection learning following the instructions on the screen.
• Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be assured.
1. Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
2. Maintain the engine speed at 1,800 rpm or more and drive the vehicle for approx. 5 min.
Note
• If the vehicle is driven for a certain period of time while the fuel injection amount learning is not completed, the master warning indication may turn on.
3. Stop the vehicle to operate the parking brake.
4. Switch the ignition OFF.
5. Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
6. Verify that the master warning indication turns off.
• If the master warning indication does not turn off, perform the PCM DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
