ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE [TCM (ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL)]

 id0502q9950000

Foreword

•  The on-board diagnostic mode is used to diagnose a malfunction in the automatic transaxle based on the sensor signal obtained at that time by forcibly operating each solenoid and selecting each gear.
•  If a problem with the automatic transaxle is identified, perform the on-board diagnostic.
•  When DTCs are displayed by the on-board diagnosis test, perform the instructions in the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Warning
•  The on-board diagnosis test forcibly changes gears within the driving shift range while the engine is running. Before implementing the on-board diagnosis test, securely apply the parking brake and set the wheel blocks for both the front and rear wheels. Otherwise, the vehicle will move which could cause injury or property damage.
•  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS before performing on-board diagnostic because the DTC is cleared by performing the on-board diagnostic.
Note
•  Perform the on-board diagnostics according to the directions on the M-MDS screen.
•  While the on-board diagnostics are being performed, the shift position indication may not be displayed correctly, however this does not indicate a malfunction.
•  The time required to perform the diagnostic is 2 to 3 min.
•  If dangerous actions such as not following the directions on the M-MDS screen and releasing the brake pedal are detected, the on-board diagnostics are stopped.

1.  Apply the parking brake firmly, and set the wheel blocks for both the front and rear wheels.

2.  Inspect the ATF level.(See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION [ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL (E)].)

3.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

4.  Perform the vehicle identification.

5.  After vehicle identification is completed, select the following from the M-MDS initial screen.

(1)  “Toolbox”
(2)  “Diagnosis”
(3)  “Confirmation test for system operation”
(4)  “Self-Diagnosing AT”

6.  Perform the operation according to the directions on the M-MDS screen.

7.  Perform the DTC inspection after the on-board diagnostics are completed. (See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  If a DTC is displayed, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC TABLE [TCM (ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL) (E)].)
