• Due to the adoption of 2-step deployment control in the driver-side air bag module, depending on the impact force, it is possible that inflator No.2 might not deploy. In such cases, before disposing of the air bag module, make sure to follow the inflator deployment procedures and verify complete deployment of inflators No.1 and 2.

• The SRS air bag system can be identified by whether or not the seat track position sensor is present.
― Standard deployment control system: Without seat track position sensor
― Two-step deployment control system: With seat track position sensor
1. Point the upper side of the driver-side air bag module towards the steering wheel as shown in the figure.

• The connector (horn switch and driver's air bag module) wiring harnesses are bundled by one tube. Verify the shapes of the connectors before connecting them.
2. Connect the horn switch connector.
3. Connect the driver-side air bag module connectors and press in the locking device.
4. Move the driver-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow.

5. Rotate the driver-side air bag module clockwise 180 degrees.

6. Align the driver-side air bag module pins with the steering wheel holes.

7. Press the driver-side air bag module in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and attach the pins.
Caution
• If the driver-side air bag module is installed with the wiring harness contacting the driver-side air bag module pins, the wiring harness may be damaged. Carefully install the driver-side air bag module while verifying that the wiring harness does not contact the pins.
8. Verify that the driver-side air bag module is securely installed.
11. Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.
• If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
