REAR DOOR LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Fully close the rear door glass.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Power window subswitch (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Rear door trim (See REAR DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Rear inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the connector.

Caution
•  When removing the service hole cover, insert the remover tool so as not to damage the seal rubber.

5.  Detach the service hole cover tabs from the body using a remover tool.

6.  Remove the clips.

7.  Remove the grommet.

8.  Pull the door lock knob cable and the inner handle cable from the service hole cover.

9.  Remove the service hole cover. (See Service Hole Cover Installation Note.)

10.  Remove the screws.

11.  Tilt the rear door latch and lock actuator in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and lift it in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the hook of the rear door latch and lock actuator.

12.  Move the rear door latch and lock actuator down in the direction of arrow shown in the figure to remove the rod from the rod holder.

13.  Remove the rear door latch and lock actuator. (See Rear Outer Handle Bracket Installation Note.)

14.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Rear Outer Handle Bracket Installation Note

1.  To assure that the rod is inserted into the rod holder hole, verify that the there is no excessive play.

Service Hole Cover Installation Note

1.  When installing the service hole cover, verify that the seal rubber is not wet.

2.  If the seal rubber or a tab is damaged, replace the service hole cover.
