System malfunction location

Calibration data communication error with forward sensing camera (FSC)

Detection condition

•  The vehicle control module (VCM) detects that the forward sensing camera (FSC) cannot receive the calibration data from the vehicle control module (VCM) for 10 s.

Fail-safe

Possible cause

Note

•  Depending on the module, after the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on) or OFF, there is a module that needs 30 s to correctly write the calibration data and configuration data.

•  Calibration error

•  The vehicle control module (VCM) or body control module (BCM) stores DTCs.

―  Vehicle control module (VCM) or body control module (BCM) communication error or internal malfunction

•  DTCs are stored in the forward sensing camera (FSC).

•  CAN circuit communication error between vehicle control module (VCM) and forward sensing camera (FSC)

•  Forward sensing camera (FSC) malfunction

•  Vehicle control module (VCM) malfunction (built into body control module (BCM))

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY NOT PERFORMING VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) CALIBRATION

•  Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Go to repair completion verification 2.

INSPECT VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) AND BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM) and the body control module (BCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is a DTC related to an internal malfunction displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (E)].)

(See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (E)].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the forward sensing camera (FSC).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is a DTC displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) (E)].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT CAN CIRCUIT BETWEEN VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) AND FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a communication error.
(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

•  Is the circuit normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, replace the forward sensing camera (FSC) and perform the repair completion verification.

No

Perform the [ACTION FOR NON-REPEATABLE MALFUNCTIONS].

If DTC is displayed

•  Repeat the diagnosis from Step 1.

If DTC is not displayed

•  Go to repair completion verification 2.

Repair completion verification 1

VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 2

VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED

•  Perform the DTC inspection.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

(See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is a DTC related to an internal malfunction displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (E)].) (See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (E)].)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION • Perform the DTC inspection for the forward sensing camera (FSC). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is a DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) (E)].)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	INSPECT CAN CIRCUIT BETWEEN VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) AND FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION • Inspect the applicable circuit for a communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].) • Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
5	INSPECT FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) • Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more. • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more. • Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].) If the CAN communication is normal, replace the forward sensing camera (FSC) and perform the repair completion verification. (See FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5		No	Perform the [ACTION FOR NON-REPEATABLE MALFUNCTIONS]. (See TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE [(E)].) If DTC is displayed • Repeat the diagnosis from Step 1. If DTC is not displayed • Go to repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step. (See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)
Repair completion verification 1		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Repair completion verification 2		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
