Electronically controlled brake unit (internal malfunction)

Detection condition
•  The electronically controlled brake unit rejects the electric parking brake control request for reasons of safety.
Fail-safe
Refer to “DTC Table” and “Fail-safe Function Malfunction Contents Table”. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT].)
Possible cause
•  Electronically controlled brake unit internal malfunction

INSPECT ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the electronically controlled brake unit.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, replace the electronically controlled brake unit and perform the repair completion verification.
No
System is normal. (Explain to the customer that a DTC was displayed because the electric parking brake switch was operated while driving.)
Perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
