PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION (PAD) SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]

Note
•  The SRS air bag system can be identified by whether or not the seat track position sensor is present.
―  Standard deployment control system: Without seat track position sensor
―  Two-step deployment control system: With seat track position sensor

1.  Switch the ignition off.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

3.  Remove the glove compartment. (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the connector.

5.  Remove the PAD switch in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure while pressing the tabs in the direction of the arrow (1).

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

7.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

8.  Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and goes out.

•  If the air bag system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See DTC INSPECTION.)
