Function Explanation (DTC Detection Outline)

P1B10:00
•  If the measured value of the FET temperature sensor is more than 136 °C {277 °F} for a continuous 3 s, the Mazda M Hybrid battery determines a malfunction and stores a DTC.
P1B11:00
•  If the measured value of the FET temperature sensor is less than -45 °C {-49 °F} for a continuous 3 s, the Mazda M Hybrid battery determines a malfunction and stores a DTC.
P1B12:00
•  The Mazda M Hybrid battery measures the temperature of the lithium-ion battery using temperature sensors No.1 and No.2, but if the difference between the temperatures measured at temperature sensors No.1 and No.2 exceeds the specification, the Mazda M Hybrid battery determines that temperature sensor No.1 or No.2 is malfunctioning and stores a DTC.
•  If the difference between the measured value of temperature sensor No.1 or No.2 in the Mazda M Hybrid battery and the measured value of the FET temperature sensor is more than 30 °C {54 °F} for a continuous 0.05 s, the Mazda M Hybrid battery determines a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Repeatability Verification Procedure

1.  Switch the ignition off and wait for 35 s or more.

2.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 10 s or more.

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS PRESENT OR PAST
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the Mazda M Hybrid battery.
•  P1B10:00, P1B11:00 or P1B12:00 a present malfunction?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 4.
3
VERIFY Mazda M Hybrid BATTERY DTC AGAIN
•  Switch the ignition off and wait for 35 s or more.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 10 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the Mazda M Hybrid battery.
•  P1B10:00, P1B11:00 or P1B12:00 a present malfunction?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the Mazda M Hybrid battery and perform the repair completion verification.
No
Go to the next step.
4
INSPECT Mazda M Hybrid BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
•  Implement the repeatability verification procedure.
No
The system is normal. (Explain to the customer that a malfunction was detected temporarily, but the vehicle is currently normal.)
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
