System malfunction location

Configuration data of body control module (BCM) not received

Detection condition

•  The vehicle control module (VCM) detects that the front side radar sensor cannot receive the configuration data from the body control module (BCM) for 10 s.

Fail-safe

(See DTC TABLE [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (E)].)

Possible cause

•  Malfunction in CAN communication line between body control module (BCM) and front side radar sensor

•  Configuration data of body control module (BCM) and front side radar sensor not matched

―  Inappropriate front side radar sensor replacement procedure

―  Body control module (BCM) configuration data write error

―  Configuration not completed after front side radar sensor (LH) replacement

•  Front side radar sensor (LH) malfunction

•  Front side radar sensor (RH) malfunction

•  Body control module (BCM) malfunction

INSPECT VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) AND BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Switch the ignition OFF, and then switch it ON (engine off).

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM) and the body control module (BCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is a DTC related to an internal malfunction displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (E)].)

(See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (E)].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (LH) FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the front side radar sensor (LH).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is a DTC displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (E)].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (RH) FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the front side radar sensor (RH).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is a DTC displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (E)].)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REPLACEMENT RECORD

•  Before performing the troubleshooting diagnostic procedure this time, verify if the front side radar sensor was replaced.

•  Has the front side radar sensor (LH) or front side radar sensor (RH) been replaced?

Yes

After re-implementing the required servicing when replacing the front side radar sensor in accordance with front side radar sensor removal/installation, perform the repair completion verification.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION ERROR

•  Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Go to repair completion verification 2.

VERIFY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION-RELATED DTCs

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the body control module (BCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is a configuration related DTC displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (E)].)

No

Go to the next step.

RESET CONFIGURATION DATA FOR BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)

•  Using the M-MDS, perform the body control module (BCM) configuration.
(See CONFIGURATION.)

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Replace the front side radar sensor (LH), then go to the next step.

(See FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to repair completion verification 2.

INSPECT FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (RH) FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, replace the front side radar sensor (RH) and perform the repair completion verification.

(See FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to repair completion verification 2.

Repair completion verification 1

VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 2

VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED

•  Perform the DTC inspection.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

3	INSPECT FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (RH) FOR MALFUNCTION • Perform the DTC inspection for the front side radar sensor (RH). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is a DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (E)].)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REPLACEMENT RECORD • Before performing the troubleshooting diagnostic procedure this time, verify if the front side radar sensor was replaced. • Has the front side radar sensor (LH) or front side radar sensor (RH) been replaced?	Yes	After re-implementing the required servicing when replacing the front side radar sensor in accordance with front side radar sensor removal/installation, perform the repair completion verification. (See FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4		No	Go to the next step.

6	VERIFY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION-RELATED DTCs • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) • Perform the DTC inspection for the body control module (BCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is a configuration related DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) (E)].)
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	RESET CONFIGURATION DATA FOR BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) • Using the M-MDS, perform the body control module (BCM) configuration. (See CONFIGURATION.) • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) • Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Replace the front side radar sensor (LH), then go to the next step. (See FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
7		No	Go to repair completion verification 2.
8	INSPECT FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR (RH) FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) • Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].) If the CAN communication is normal, replace the front side radar sensor (RH) and perform the repair completion verification. (See FRONT SIDE RADAR SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
8		No	Go to repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) • Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM). (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step. Repair completion verification 1		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED • Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.) • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Repair completion verification 2		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
