Ignition Timing Inspection
-
Caution
-
• Do not change the crankshaft position sensor installation position. Changing the CKP sensor installation location while attempting to adjust the ignition timing could cause an engine malfunction.
-
Note
-
• The ignition timing cannot be adjusted.
-
• The SST (WDS or equivalent) is required to verify the ignition timing.
1. Warm up the engine.
-
(1) Turn off all electrical loads.
-
(2) Increase the engine speed to 2,500-3,000 rpm until the cooling fan starts running.
-
(3) When the cooling fan starts running, release the accelerator pedal and wait until the cooling fan stops running.
2. Connect the SST (WDS or equivalent) to the DLC-2.
3. Verify the ignition timing (WDS: SPARKADV) using the PID/data monitor function of the SST (WDS or equivalent).
Ignition timing (BTDC)
-
10°
4. Gradually raise the engine speed and verify that the ignition timing advances.
Idle Speed Inspection
-
Note
-
• Idle rotation cannot be adjusted.
3. Verify that the engine speed (WDS: RPM) is as follows using the PID/data monitor function of the SST (WDS or equivalent) as follows:
Idle speed
-
No load
-
650-750

When the following electrical loads are on: Headlights, rear defroster, cooling fan No.1, cooling fan No.2, and the blower motor (2-step or more.)
Idle Mixture Inspection
1. Verify that the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specification. (See Idle Speed Inspection.) (See Ignition Timing Inspection.)
2. Insert an exhaust gas analyzer to the tailpipe.
3. Verify that the CO and HC concentrations are within the regulation.
