System malfunction location

Glow control module control circuit problem

Detection condition
•  When the following conditions are met, a condition continues for 5 s in which the power supply voltage of the glow control module is less than 5.8 V or exceeds 16.5 V, or there is an internal circuit malfunction, or the temperature of the internal circuit exceeds the specification.
―  During glow control
―  Glow plug circuit voltage: 3—11.3 V
Fail-safe
•  Inhibits the DENOx/DESOx control.
Possible cause
•  Glow control module connector or terminal malfunction
•  Short to ground or open circuit in glow control module power supply circuit
•  GLOW/DCDC 80 A fuse malfunction
•  F12 15 A fuse malfunction
•  Open circuit in glow control module ground circuit
•  Glow plug connector or terminal malfunction
•  Short to ground in glow plug control circuit
•  Short to power supply in glow plug control circuit
•  Short circuit in glow plugs control circuits
•  Erratic signal to PCM
―  Open circuit in LIN communication line
―  Short to power supply in LIN communication line
―  Short to ground in LIN communication line
•  PCM connector or terminal malfunction
•  Glow control module temperature is too high (123 °C {253 °F} or more)
•  Glow control module malfunction
•  PCM malfunction

RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
Go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT GLOW CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW/DCDC 80 A FUSE
•  Remove the GLOW/DCDC 80 A Fuse.
•  Inspect the GLOW/DCDC 80 A Fuse.
•  Is the fuse normal?
Yes
Reinstall the GLOW/DCDC 80 A Fuse, then go to the next step.
No
Replace the GLOW/DCDC 80 A Fuse and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT F12 15 A FUSE
•  Remove the F12 15 A Fuse.
•  Inspect the F12 15 A Fuse.
•  Is the fuse normal?
Yes
Reinstall the F12 15 A Fuse, then go to the next step.
No
Replace the F12 15 A Fuse and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW CONTROL MODULE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND OR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground or open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW CONTROL MODUL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to power supply.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW PLUG CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO EACH WIRING HARNESS
•  Inspect the applicable circuits for a short circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to repair completion verification.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW CONTROL MODULE LIN COMMUNICATION LINE FOR SHORT OR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for short or open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT GLOW CONTROL MODULE FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable part.
•  Is the part normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
―  Perform the KOEO or KOER self test.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
