System malfunction location

EGR pressure sensor/MAP sensor/BARO sensor: correlation problem

Detection condition

•  The pressure detected by the EGR pressure sensor and the pressure calculated from the BARO sensor and the MAP sensor are compared and the difference is the specified value or more.

Precondition

•  Engine speed: 2,000 rpm or less^*1

•  Exhaust shutter valve opening angle: 90 % or more

•  Battery voltage: 8 V or more^*1

^*1: Standard can be verified by displaying PIDs using M-MDS

Fail-safe

•  Stops the EGR control.

Possible cause

•  MAP sensor/IAT sensor No.2 connector or terminals malfunction

•  EGR pressure sensor connector or terminals malfunction

•  PCM connector or terminals malfunction

•  MAP sensor malfunction

•  EGR pressure sensor malfunction

•  Disconnected or damaged vacuum hose connected to EGR pressure sensor

•  BARO sensor (built-into PCM) malfunction

•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY

•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.

•  Is any related Information available?

Yes

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.

•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT MAP SENSOR/IAT SENSOR No.2 CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
(See CONNECTOR INSPECTION.)

•  Are the connector and terminal normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT EGR PRESSURE SENSOR CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
(See CONNECTOR INSPECTION.)

•  Are the connector and terminal normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
(See CONNECTOR INSPECTION.)

•  Are the connector and terminal normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT MAP SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the applicable part.
(See MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

•  Is the part normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT EGR PRESSURE SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the applicable part.
(See EGR PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

•  Is the part normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

VERIFY CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSE CONNECTED TO EGR PRESSURE SENSOR

•  Verify the vacuum hose connection status.
(See EGR PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

•  Is the hose disconnected or damaged?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

(See EGR PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

Repair completion verification 1

VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.

―  Switch the ignition ON (engine off) and wait for 10 s or more.

―  Start the engine and wait for 10 s or more.

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 2

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED

•  Perform the DTC inspection.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

4	INSPECT EGR PRESSURE SENSOR CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION • Inspect the applicable connector and terminal. (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION.) • Are the connector and terminal normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
5	INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION • Inspect the applicable connector and terminal. (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION.) • Are the connector and terminal normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
6	INSPECT MAP SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION • Inspect the applicable part. (See MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].) • Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR No.2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)
7	INSPECT EGR PRESSURE SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION • Inspect the applicable part. (See EGR PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].) • Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
7		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See EGR PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)
8	VERIFY CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSE CONNECTED TO EGR PRESSURE SENSOR • Verify the vacuum hose connection status. (See EGR PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].) • Is the hose disconnected or damaged?	Yes	Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
