DECOUPLING RING TENSIONER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))]

Warning

• A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before servicing.

Note

• Remove/install the drive belt from the underside of the vehicle.

Caution

• To prevent damage to the decoupling ring tensioner, do not apply excessive torque after the tensioner moves full-stroke.

1. Remove the front splash shield (RH). (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2. Remove the front deflector. (See DEFLECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Remove the coolant reserve tank. (See COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].)

4. Insert a wrench onto the cast hexagon on the decoupling ring tensioner by slowly turning in the direction shown in the figure.

5. Insert a pin into the hole shown in the figure.

6. Insert a wrench onto the cast hexagon on the decoupling ring tensioner and release the tension by slowly turning in the direction shown in the figure.

7. Set the generator drive belt aside.

8. Remove the bolts.

9. Remove the decoupling ring tensioner as shown in the figure.

10. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Decoupling Ring Tensioner Installation Note.)

Decoupling Ring Tensioner Installation Note

1. Insert a wrench onto the cast hexagon on the decoupling ring tensioner by slowly turning in the direction shown in the figure.

2. Insert a pin into the hole shown in the figure.

3. Insert a wrench onto the cast hexagon on the decoupling ring tensioner by slowly turning in the direction shown in the figure.

4. Insert a pin into the hole shown in the figure.

5. Install the generator drive belt.

6. Install the decoupling ring tensioner.
