FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-D 1.8]

Location of use: Drain plug

Warning
•  Highly pressurized fuel may spray out if the fuel line is cut. Due to the following dangers occurring with a fuel spray, always complete the “Fuel Line Safety Procedure” to prevent the fuel from spraying.
―  Fuel may cause irritation if it comes in contact with skin and eyes.
―  If fuel ignites and causes a fire, it may lead to serious injury or death, and damage to property and facilities.
•  A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before performing work on the fuel system, discharge static electricity by touching the vehicle body.
Caution
•  If parts are exposed to the fuel, their function may be decreased or a fire may occur. Spread a rag to absorb any leaked fuel.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Complete the “BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION”. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

3.  Remove the floor under cover No.2 (LH). (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the sedimentor switch connector and wiring harness clip.

5.  Remove in the order shown in the figure.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

7.  Complete the “AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION”. (See AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

Fuel Filter Removal Note

1.  Remove the fuel filter using a cup-type oil filter wrench (commercially available: nominal diameter: 76 mm, 15 sided).

Fuel Filter Installation Note

1.  Clean the fuel filter installation surface of the fuel filter body.

2.  Apply a small amount of fuel to the fuel filter O-ring.

3.  Tighten the fuel filter using a cup-type oil filter wrench.

4.  Start the engine and verify that there is no fuel leakage.


Drain plug installation note

1.  Tighten the drain plug enough to the fuel filter by hand. (See FUEL FILTER WATER DRAINING [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)
