GPF PRESSURE SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0]

 id0140hf624800

Warning
•  A hot engine and exhaust system can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.

PID/DATA Monitor Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

3.  Display PCM PID [GPF_DIF_PRES] using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION.)(See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-X)].)

4.  Verify that the PID GPF_DIF_PRES value matches the following standard.

Standard

Condition

PID [GPF_DIF_PRES]

Ignition switched ON (engine off)
Approx. 0 kPa {0 kgf/cm2, 0 psi}

•  If the pressure value is within the standard, go to the next step.
•  If the pressure value is not within the standard, go to the visual inspection. (See Visual inspection.)

5.  Start the engine.

6.  When the engine speed is 4,000 rpm or more, verify that the PID GPF_DIF_PRES value changes.

•  If the value increases, it is normal.
•  If the value does not increase, go to the visual inspection. (See Visual inspection.)

Visual inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the GPF pressure sensor. (See GPF PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

3.  Visually inspect the GPF pressure sensor for the following malfunction:

•  Damage, cracks, soiling
―  If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the GPF pressure sensor. (See GPF PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

4.  Visually inspect the air hose for the following malfunction:

•  Air hose for improper routing, kinks or leakage
―  If there is any malfunction, repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the inspection results.
―  If a malfunction cannot be verified by a visual inspection even though a malfunction is occurring by the PID/data monitor inspection, replace the GPF pressure sensor. (See GPF PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)
