ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8]

Resistance Inspection

Note

• The engine oil temperature sensor and engine oil pressure sensor cannot be removed as a single unit. When replacing the engine oil temperature sensor or engine oil pressure sensor, replace the engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

3. Remove the following parts: (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

• Fresh-air duct

• Air cleaner

• Air hose

• Air inlet pipe

4. Remove the battery and battery tray (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

5. Remove the turbocharger air outlet pipe (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

6. Remove the intake shutter valve. (See INTAKE SHUTTER VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

7. Disconnect the engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor connector. (See ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR/ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

8. Measure the resistance between engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor terminals E and C.

• If not as specified, replace the engine oil temperature sensor/engine oil pressure sensor. (See ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR/ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)
