Outline

System malfunction location

Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module system

Detection condition
Note
•  The low-G sensor and the yaw rate sensor are built into the Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module.
•  C0061:28
―  The DSC HU/CM detects that the offset amount of the lateral-G signal is outside of the specification.
•  C0061:64
―  While driving, the DSC HU/CM determines that there is a lateral-G malfunction as a result of comparing the yaw rate, lateral-G, and the steering angle.
•  C0062:28
―  The DSC HU/CM detects that the offset amount of the longitudinal-G signal is outside of the specification.
•  C0062:64
―  The DSC HU/CM detects a mismatch between the longitudinal-G detected by the low-G sensor and the longitudinal-G calculated from the wheel speed signal.
•  C0063:28
―  The DSC HU/CM detects any of the following conditions.
•  Offset amount of yaw rate sensor signal is outside of specification
•  Difference of calculated yaw rate exceeds specification
•  C0063:64
―  While driving, the DSC HU/CM detects that there is a yaw rate malfunction as a result of comparing the yaw rate, lateral-G, and the steering angle.
Fail-safe
Refer to “DTC Table” and “Fail-safe Function Malfunction Contents Table”.(See DTC TABLE [DSC HU/CM (E)].)
Possible cause
•  Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module incorrect installation
•  Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module malfunction
―  Low-G sensor (Lateral acceleration sensor) malfunction
―  Low-G sensor (Longitudinal acceleration sensor) malfunction
―  Yaw rate sensor malfunction
•  DSC HU/CM malfunction
•  Strong impact (such as collision) occurred

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
VERIFY IF SOPHISTICATED AIRBAG SENSOR (SAS) CONTROL MODULE IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY
•  Verify the Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module installation condition.
•  Is the installation condition normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Correctly install the Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module and perform the repair completion verification.
2
INSPECT SOPHISTICATED AIRBAG SENSOR (SAS) CONTROL MODULE FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Perform the DTC inspection for Sophisticated Airbag Sensor (SAS) control module.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Drive the vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 km/h {12 mph}.
•  Gradually slow down and stop vehicle.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the DSC HU/CM.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the DSC HU/CM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
