Outline

System malfunction location

Output shaft speed sensor range/performance problem

Detection condition
•  Under the following conditions, there is no correlation between the vehicle speed signal from the DSC HU/CM (without Mazda M Hybrid)/electronically controlled brake unit (with Mazda M Hybrid) and the output shaft speed sensor.
―  Engine is running.
―  The vehicle is driven at the specified speed or more.
―  Vehicle speed signal related DTC is not recorded.
―  There is no correlation between vehicle speed signal from DSC HU/CM (without Mazda M Hybrid)/electronically controlled brake unit (with Mazda M Hybrid) and turbine/input shaft speed sensor signal.
―  DTC P0721:00 and P0722:00 are not recorded.
Fail-safe
•  Inhibits learning control.
•  Inhibits manual mode.
•  Inhibits neutral idle control.
•  Inhibits i-stop control.
•  Inhibits AAS.
Possible cause
•  Output shaft speed sensor malfunction

VERIFY DSC HU/CM (WITHOUT Mazda M Hybrid)/ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT (WITH Mazda M Hybrid) DTC
•  Perform the DSC HU/CM (without Mazda M Hybrid)/electronically controlled brake unit (with Mazda M Hybrid) DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPAIR HISTORY
•  Does the instrument cluster have a record of replacement?
Yes
Perform the instrument cluster configuration using the M-MDS.
Go to repair completion verification.
No
Go to the next step.
3
VERIFY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REPAIR HISTORY
•  Does the automatic transmission (with control valve body) have a record of replacement?
Yes
Perform the TCM configuration using the M-MDS.
Go to repair completion verification.
No
Go to the next step.

RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture of the PC function.
Go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.
•  Is any related information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, replace the control valve body.
Go to repair completion verification
No
Replace the control valve body, then go to repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the following procedure to ensure that the DTC has been resolved:
1.  Drive the vehicle for 1 s or more under the following condition:
•  Vehicle speed: 30 km/h {19 mph} or more
•  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
