Engine flares up or slips when upshifting or downshifting

Description

•  When shifting up while accelerating the vehicle with the accelerator pedal depressed, the engine revs.

•  When shifting down while the vehicle is being driven normally with the accelerator pedal depressed, the engine revs rapidly.

Possible cause

1.  Insufficient TCM learning

2.  Signal malfunction

―  APP sensor malfunction

―  CKP sensor malfunction

―  MAF sensor malfunction

VERIFY MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM

•  Is the malfunction symptom at the same level compared to a vehicle of the same model (ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL vehicles)?

Yes

Symptom troubleshooting is completed.

No

Go to the next step.

PERFORM INITIAL LEARNING

•  Perform the initial learning.
(See INITIAL LEARNING [ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL (E)].)

•  Does the symptom disappear?

Yes

Symptom troubleshooting is completed.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT SIGNAL PARTS FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Inspect the value at the following PCM PIDs using the M-MDS.
(See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION.)

―  APP1 (APP sensor No.1)

―  APP2 (APP sensor No.2)

―  MAF (MAF sensor)

―  ENG_RPM (CKP sensor)

•  Is there any malfunction?
(See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G (E))].)

(See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-X)].)

(See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-D)].)

Yes

Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.

No

Symptom troubleshooting is completed.
