Malfunction in power supply to ultrasonic sensor

Detection condition
Note
•  DTC B1B57:49 is detected even if rear ultrasonic sensor-related malfunction occurred.
•  The parking assist unit (ultrasonic) detects that there is a malfunction in power supply to the ultrasonic sensor for 10 s.
Fail-safe
Possible cause
•  Front bumper malfunction
•  Parking assist unit (ultrasonic) connector or terminal malfunction
•  Front ultrasonic sensor connector or terminal malfunction
•  Short to ground in front ultrasonic sensor power supply circuit
•  Open circuit in front ultrasonic sensor power supply circuit
•  Front ultrasonic sensor malfunction
•  Parking assist unit (ultrasonic) malfunction

INSPECT PARKING ASSIST UNIT (ULTRASONIC) FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the parking assist unit (ultrasonic).
•  Is a DTC related to an internal malfunction displayed? (U3000:04)
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY FRONT BUMPER EXTERNAL APPEARANCE AND INSTALLATION CONDITION
•  Verify the external appearance and installation condition of the applicable part.
•  Are the external appearance and the installation condition normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location, or install the applicable part correctly and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PARKING ASSIST UNIT (ULTRASONIC) (TERMINAL 2A-2R) CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

VERIFY PARKING ASSIST UNIT (ULTRASONIC) VOLTAGE
•  Connect the negative battery terminal.
•  Measure the voltage at parking assist unit (ultrasonic) terminal 2Q (part side).
•  Is the voltage normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the parking assist unit (ultrasonic) and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT FRONT ULTRASONIC SENSOR CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

VERIFY POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE FROM PARKING ASSIST UNIT (ULTRASONIC)
•  Connect the parking assist unit (ultrasonic) connector.
•  Connect the negative battery terminal.
•  Measure the voltage at each front ultrasonic sensor terminal C (vehicle wiring harness side).
•  Is all the voltage normal?
Yes
Go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FRONT ULTRASONIC SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT FRONT ULTRASONIC SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT FRONT ULTRASONIC SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Connect the parking assist unit (ultrasonic) connector.
•  Perform the following procedure for each front ultrasonic sensor.
1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2.  If there is a connected front ultrasonic sensor connector, disconnect it.
3.  Connect any one of the front ultrasonic sensor connectors.
4.  Connect the negative battery terminal.
5.  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
6.  Perform the DTC inspection for the parking assist unit (ultrasonic).
7.  Verify if the same DTC is displayed.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present for all the sensors?
Yes
Note
•  If DTC B1B58:49 has been completed, go to the next step.
Rear ultrasonic sensor can be considered the cause.
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the DTC B1B58:49 troubleshooting.
No
Repair or replace the sensor connected when the DTC is displayed, and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the parking assist unit (ultrasonic).
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the parking assist unit (ultrasonic), then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
