STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the driver-side air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
(2)  Steering wheel bezel (See STEERING WHEEL BEZEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)
(4)  Steering shift switch (ATX) (with steering shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6A-EL, ET6AX-EL].) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [EV6A-EL, EV6AX-EL].)
(5)  Steering wheel cover (See STEERING WHEEL COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  While pressing steering switch tabs A and tabs B from the underside of the steering wheel, move the steering switch in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure, and remove the steering switch from the steering wheel.

4.  Remove the steering switch.

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
