Mazda M Hybrid BATTERY INSPECTION

Warning
•  Handling the Mazda M Hybrid battery incorrectly when storing or disposing of it may lead to electrolyte leakage or high-voltage discharge, causing damage to the vehicle.
Handle the Mazda M Hybrid battery safely using the correct procedure.
Caution
•  Be careful not to hold the following locations when removing/installing the Mazda M Hybrid battery. Otherwise, it could be damaged.

•  Clean the duct of the floor under cover (RH) when installing the Mazda M Hybrid battery. Otherwise, Mazda M Hybrid may not operate normally.
Note
•  The Mazda M Hybrid battery is very heavy. When removing the Mazda M Hybrid battery from the vehicle, always perform the procedure with at least one other person.

DTC Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  If any DTC related to the Mazda M Hybrid battery is present, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [Mazda M Hybrid BATTERY].)
•  If Mazda M Hybrid battery related DTCs are not detected, perform the visual inspection. (See Visual Inspection.)


Visual Inspection

1.  Switch the ignition OFF.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

3.  Disconnect the ground plate. (See GROUND PLATE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

4.  Remove the Mazda M Hybrid battery. (See Mazda M Hybrid BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Inspect the Mazda M Hybrid battery for the following.

•  Damage, cracking, corrosion, or electrolyte leakage
―  If there is any malfunction, replace the Mazda M Hybrid battery. (See Mazda M Hybrid BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
•  Dirt and clogging caused by mud or foreign matter
―  Wipe off with clean cloth
•  Looseness of various parts
―  Tighten to specified torque
Note
•  Because the bracket grounds the vehicle, the vehicle may not be grounded normally if the bracket loosens.
•  If the duct is clogged, the i-stop function may not operate due to an increase in the Mazda M Hybrid battery temperature.
