Outline

System malfunction location

Body control module (BCM) configuration not performed

Detection condition
•  The vehicle control module (VCM) detects that the driver monitoring camera unit received a signal which indicates the body control module (BCM) configuration was not performed for 10 s.
Fail-safe
Possible cause
•  Malfunction in CAN communication line between body control module (BCM) and driver monitoring camera unit
•  Inappropriate driver monitoring camera unit replacement procedure
•  Configuration data of body control module (BCM) and driver monitoring camera unit not matched
―  Body control module (BCM) configuration data write error
―  Configuration not performed after driver monitoring camera unit replacement
•  Driver monitoring camera unit malfunction
•  Body control module (BCM) malfunction

INSPECT VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (VCM) AND BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM) and the body control module (BCM).
•  Is a DTC related to an internal malfunction displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT DRIVER MONITORING CAMERA UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the driver monitoring camera unit.
•  Is a DTC displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY DRIVER MONITORING CAMERA UNIT REPLACEMENT RECORD
•  Verify if the driver monitoring camera unit has been replaced before performing this troubleshooting procedure.
•  Has the driver monitoring camera unit been replaced?
Yes
After performing the procedure required for the driver monitoring camera unit replacement again, perform the repair completion verification.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS CAUSED BY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION ERROR
•  Switch the ignition OFF and wait for 30 s or more.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 30 s or more.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to repair completion verification 2.

VERIFY BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION RELATED DTCs
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the body control module (BCM).
•  Is a configuration related DTC displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

RESET BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) CONFIGURATION DATA
•  Using the M-MDS, perform the body control module (BCM) configuration.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Replace the driver monitoring camera unit and perform the repair completion verification.
No
Go to repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the vehicle control module (VCM).
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the body control module (BCM), then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
