 id0102t5154100

Outline

System malfunction location

Diesel particulate filter system: Excess diesel particulate filter accumulation (mid)

Detection condition
•  Amount of accumulated soot exceeds 10 g/l due to diesel particulate filter clogging.
Fail-safe
•  PCM restricts engine torque.
•  Inhibits the auto diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
•  Inhibits the DENOx/DESOx control.
Possible cause
•  Pipe clogging or damage between exhaust sensor No.2 and catalytic converter (diesel particulate filter)
•  Diesel particulate filter clogging or damage
•  PCM malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Are any of the following DTCs displayed?
―  P242F:00
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.
4
INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Has any DTC other than P2458:00 or P2463:00 been stored?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Note
•  When a DTC other than DTC P2458:00 or P2463:00 is stored, compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration may be restricted by the PCM control.
Perform applicable DTC troubleshooting, and then perform compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration.
No
Go to the next step.
5
INSPECT EXHAUST GAS PRESSURE SENSOR No.2-RELATED PIPING
•  Visually inspect the exhaust gas pressure No.2-related piping for clogging, damage, or less.
•  Is the exhaust gas pressure sensor No.2-related piping normal?
Yes
Perform fuel injection amount learning and implement compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration.
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location, then go to repair completion verification.
6
VERIFY DTCs
•  Refer to the [MEMORY CLEARING PROCEDURE] and clear the DTC.
•  Start the engine and drive the vehicle under the freeze frame data/snapshot data condition.
Warning
•  To prevent an accident, work with another person when the vehicle is being driven (one person drives vehicle, other person operates M-MDS).
•  Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be assured.
•  Display the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Has DTC P2458:00 been recorded?
Yes
Diesel particulate filter clogging in the catalytic converter (diesel particulate filter), damage, or loss can be considered.
•  Replace the catalytic converter (diesel particulate filter), then go to the next step.
No
Go to repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
―  Start the engine and drive the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA/snapshot data condition.
Warning
•  To prevent an accident, work with another person when the vehicle is being driven (one person drives vehicle, other person operates M-MDS).
•  Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be assured.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
