Details On DTCs

Description

Gasoline particulate filter system: Excess gasoline particulate filter accumulation

Detection condition
Determination conditions
•  If any of the following conditions is met under condition A or condition B:
Condition A:
―  Output value of GPF pressure sensor is specified value or more
Condition B:
―  Soot accumulation amount (estimated value) in gasoline particulate filter is 8 g {0.3 oz} or more
Preconditions
Condition A:
•  Barometric pressure: 70 kPa {0.71 kgf/cm2, 10 psi} or more*1
•  Engine coolant temperature: 60 °C {140 °F} or more*1
•  Ambient air temperature: -10 °C {14 °F} or more*1
•  Engine speed: 500 rpm or more*1
•  Exhaust shutter valve angle: 66.5 ° or more (Australian, European (L.H.D. U.K.) specs.)
•  Exhaust gas amount: 1.3—14 m3/min or more (Chinese specs.)
•  Exhaust gas amount: 0.6—14 m3/min or more (Except Chinese specs.)
•  The following DTCs are not detected:
―  GPF pressure sensor: P2452:00, P2454:00, P2455:00 or P2456:00
―  MAF sensor: P0100:00 or P060F:00
―  Exhaust shutter valve position sensor: P26C5:00 or P2BF5:00 (Australian, European (L.H.D. U.K.) specs.)
―  Internal PCM malfunction: P16AB:00
Condition B:
•  Not applicable
*1: Standard can be verified by displaying PIDs using M-MDS
Drive cycle
•  1
Self test type
•  CMDTC self test
Sensor used
•  GPF pressure sensor
Fail-safe function
•  Perform automatic gasoline particulate filter regeneration control.
Vehicle status when DTCs are output
•  A message related to the gasoline particulate filter is indicated on the display.
Possible cause
•  Excess soot accumulation in gasoline particulate filter
•  Catalytic converter (gasoline particulate filter) damage
•  PCM malfunction

Function Explanation (DTC Detection Outline)

•  Indicates that more than the permissible amount of soot has accumulated in the gasoline particulate filter and the compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration is required.
•  If the GPF sensor output value is large in relation to the exhaust gas flow, or the soot accumulation amount (estimated value) in the gasoline particulate filter is 8 g {0.3 oz} or more, the PCM stores a DTC.

Repeatability Verification Procedure

1.  Display PID EX_FLOW_RATE (exhaust gas flow) using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION.)

2.  Drive the vehicle so that the PID EX_FLOW_RATE value is 24 kg/h or more and 160 kg/h or less for a continuous 5 min. (Chinese specs.)

3.  Drive the vehicle so that the PID EX_FLOW_RATE value is 11 kg/h or more and 160 kg/h or less for a continuous 5 min. (Except Chinese specs.)

1
PURPOSE: VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
2
PURPOSE: RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
Go to the next step.
3
PURPOSE: INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Are any of the following DTCs displayed?
―  P24A4:00
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Note
•  When the diagnostic procedure for DTC P24A4:00 is completed, the diagnostic procedure for DTC P2463:00 is also completed.
No
Go to the next step.
4
PURPOSE: INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Has any DTC other than P2463:00 been stored?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Note
•  When a DTC other than DTC P2463:00 is stored, compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration may be restricted by the PCM control.
Perform the compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration.
Go to the troubleshooting diagnostic procedure and perform the repair completion verification 1.
No
Go to Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure to perform the procedure from Step 1.

Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure

Intention of troubleshooting procedure
•  Step 1
―  Determine if the malfunction cause is the gasoline particulate filter.
•  Repair completion verification
―  Verify that the primary malfunction is resolved and there are no other malfunctions.

Step

Inspection

Action

1
PURPOSE: DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS GASOLINE PARTICULATE FILTER
•  Perform the compulsory gasoline particulate filter regeneration.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
―  Implement the repeatability verification procedure.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Malfunction due to poor installation or damage of the catalytic converter (gasoline particulate filter) can be considered.
•  Replace the gasoline particulate filter, then go to the next step.
•  Perform the gasoline particulate filter data reset and perform the repair completion verification 1.
No
Go to repair completion verification 2.
Repair completion verification 1
