Outline

System malfunction location

Clutch stroke sensor/Starter interlock switch correlation problem

Detection condition
•  Correlation malfunction between clutch stroke sensor and starter interlock switch.
―  Starter interlock switch stuck ON.
Precondition
•  The following DTCs are not detected:
―  Communication error between body control module (BCM) and PCM: U0140:00 and U0322:00
Fail-safe
•  Inhibits engine-stop by operating the i-stop function.
Possible cause
Caution
•  Inspect the starter interlock switch with it installed to the clutch pedal, otherwise the starter interlock switch may not operate normally after inspection. If the starter interlock switch is removed from the clutch pedal, replace the starter interlock switch with a new one.
•  Starter interlock switch incorrect installation
•  Clutch stroke sensor incorrect installation
•  Starter interlock switch connector or terminals malfunction
•  Starter interlock switch malfunction
•  Clutch stroke sensor connector or terminals malfunction
•  PCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to ground in any of the following clutch stroke sensor circuits.
―  Power supply circuit
―  Signal circuit
•  Short to power supply in clutch stroke sensor signal circuit
•  Short circuit between any of the following clutch stroke sensor circuits.
―  Power supply circuit
―  Signal circuit
―  Ground circuit
•  Open circuit in any of the following clutch stroke sensor circuits.
―  Power supply circuit
―  Signal circuit
―  Ground circuit
•  Clutch stroke sensor malfunction
•  PCM malfunction

RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
•  Record the freeze frame data/snapshot data.
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
Go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTCs FOR STARTER INTERLOCK SWITCH
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the body control module (BCM).
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF STARTER INTERLOCK SWITCH IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY
•  Verify the starter interlock switch installation condition.
•  Is the installation condition normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Correctly install the starter interlock switch and perform the repair completion verification.

VERIFY IF CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY
•  Verify the clutch stroke sensor installation condition.
•  Is the installation condition normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Correctly install the clutch stroke sensor and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT STARTER INTERLOCK SWITCH CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT STARTER INTERLOCK SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable part.
•  Is the part normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT AND SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to power supply.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS, SIGNAL CIRCUITS, AND GROUND CIRCUITS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuits for a short circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUITS, SIGNAL CIRCUITS, AND GROUND CIRCUITS FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT CLUTCH STROKE SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable part.
•  Is the part normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.
―  Depress the clutch pedal.
―  Release the clutch pedal.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
