ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0]

Warning
•  A hot engine can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the exhaust system.

ECT Sensor No.1

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

3.  Remove the intake manifold. (See INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

4.  Disconnect the ECT sensor No.1 connector.

5.  Remove ECT sensor No.1 using the SST.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

7.  Add engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)


ECT Sensor No.2

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

3.  Remove the No.3 engine mount. (See ENGINE MOUNT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [SKYACTIV-X 2.0]

4.  Disconnect the ECT sensor No.2 connector.

5.  Remove ECT sensor No.2 using the SST.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

7.  Add engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)


ECT Sensor No.3

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Open the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER OPEN/CLOSE [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

3.  Drain the water-cooled charge air cooler coolant. (See WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLER COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

4.  Disconnect the ECT Sensor No.3 connector.

5.  Remove ECT sensor No.3 using the SST with the water pipe secured using a wrench.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

7.  Add water-cooled charge air cooler coolant. (See WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLER COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)
