Transfer Oil Seal (Companion Flange)

Note

•  When replacing the transfer oil seal installed to the companion flange, perform the procedure referring to the applicable TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE workshop manual because a transfer overhaul is necessary.

Transfer Oil Seal (LH)

Removal

1.  Remove the transfer. (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6AX-EL (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)].) (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6AX-EL (SKYACTIV-D 1.8)].) (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6AX-EL (SKYACTIV-X 2.0)].)

2.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the lip area of the transfer oil seal (LH) as shown in the figure and remove the oil seal (LH).

Installation

1.  Apply transfer oil to the lip of the new transfer oil seal (LH).

2.  Install a new transfer oil seal (LH) using the SST and a hammer.

3.  Install the transfer. (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6AX-EL (SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)].) (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6AX-EL (SKYACTIV-D 1.8)].) (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ET6AX-EL (SKYACTIV-X 2.0)].)

Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1

Removal

1.  Remove the front drive shaft (RH).(See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

2.  Insert a flathead screwdriver into the notch of the transfer and remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1.

Installation

1.  Apply transfer oil to the lip of the new transfer oil seal (RH) No.1.

2.  Install the new transfer oil seal (RH) No.1 projection to within the range shown in the figure.

3.  Install a new transfer oil seal (RH) No.1 using the SST and a hammer.

4.  Install the front drive shaft (RH).(See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.2

Removal

1.  Drain the transfer oil.(See TRANSFER OIL REPLACEMENT [ET6AX-EL (E)].)

2.  Remove the front drive shaft (RH).(See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

3.  Remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1. (See Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1.)

4.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the lip area of the oil seal (RH) No.2 as shown in the figure and remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.2.

Installation

1.  Apply transfer oil to the lip of the new transfer oil seal (RH) No.2.

2.  Install a new transfer oil seal (RH) No.2 using the SST and a hammer.

3.  Install the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1. (See Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1.)

4.  Install the front drive shaft (RH).(See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

5.  Add the transfer oil.(See TRANSFER OIL REPLACEMENT [ET6AX-EL (E)].)

Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.3

Removal

1.  Remove the front drive shaft (RH).(See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1. (See Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1.)

3.  Remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.3 using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.

Installation

1.  Apply transfer oil to the lip of the new transfer oil seal (RH) No.3.

2.  Install a new transfer oil seal (RH) No.3 using the SST and a hammer.

3.  Install the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1. (See Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1.)

4.  Install the front drive shaft (RH).(See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)
