EXPANSION VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)]

SKYACTIV-G

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant.(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING [(E)].)

3.  Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITHOUT CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].) (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].)

4.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

5.  Remove the nut.

6.  Remove the clips.

7.  Remove the bolt.

8.  Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

9.  Set the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe aside while being careful not to let remaining oil in the pipes to spill.

Caution
•  When setting the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe aside, only bend the flexible part of the hose. If force is applied to areas other than the flexible hose, the pipe will bend and could be damaged.

10.  Remove the bolts.

11.  Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

12.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

13.  Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST [(E)].)


SKYACTIV-D 1.8

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant.(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING [(E)].)

3.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

4.  Detach the clip.

5.  Remove the bolts.

6.  Disconnect the engine ground.

7.  Remove the nut.

8.  Set the PCM component out of the way.

9.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

10.  Remove the nut.

11.  Remove the clips.

12.  Remove the bolt.

13.  Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

14.  Set the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe aside while being careful not to let remaining oil in the pipes to spill.

15.  Remove the bolts.

16.  Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

17.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

18.  Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST [(E)].)


SKYACTIV-X 2.0

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant.(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING [(E)].)

3.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

4.  Remove the rear wall. (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

5.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

6.  Remove the nut.

7.  Remove the clips.

8.  Remove the bolt.

9.  Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution

SKYACTIV-G

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant.(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING [(E)].)

3.  Remove the plug hole plate.(See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G (WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION (E))].)

4.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

5.  Remove the nut.

6.  Remove the clips.

7.  Remove the bolt.

8.  Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

SKYACTIV-D 1.8

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant.(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING [(E)].)

3.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

4.  Detach the clip.

5.  Remove the bolts.

6.  Disconnect the engine ground.

7.  Remove the nut.

8.  Set the PCM component out of the way.

9.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

10.  Remove the nut.

11.  Remove the clips.

12.  Remove the bolt.

13.  Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

14.  Set the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe aside while being careful not to let remaining oil in the pipes to spill.

15.  Remove the bolt.

16.  Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

17.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

18.  Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST [(E)].)


SKYACTIV-X 2.0

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Discharge the refrigerant.(See REFRIGERANT CHARGING [(E)].)

3.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

4.  Remove the rear wall. (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

5.  Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor connector.

6.  Remove the nut.

7.  Remove the clips.

8.  Remove the bolt.

9.  Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Caution
