•  The SRS air bag system can be identified by whether or not the seat track position sensor is present.
―  Standard deployment control system: Without seat track position sensor
―  Two-step deployment control system: With seat track position sensor

System malfunction location

B1D75:55: Configuration setting error (passenger air bag deactivation switch structural malfunction)

B1D75:62: Passenger air bag deactivation switch circuit open circuit or short to body ground

Detection condition
•  The SAS control module received the error signals from the passenger air bag deactivation switch.
Fail-safe
Not applicable
Possible cause
•  Passenger air bag deactivation switch connector or terminal malfunction
•  Passenger air bag deactivation switch malfunction
•  SAS control module connector or terminal malfunction
•  Short to ground in passenger air bag deactivation switch signal circuit
•  Open circuit in passenger air bag deactivation switch signal circuit
•  Open circuit in passenger air bag deactivation switch ground circuit
•  SAS control module malfunction

INSPECT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION SWITCH CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION SWITCH FOR MALFUNCTION
•  Is the part normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT SAS CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION
Warning
•  Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions and the workshop manual before handling the air bag system components.
•  Switch the ignition off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more.
•  Disconnect the driver and passenger-side side air bag module connectors.
•  Disconnect the driver and passenger-side front seat connectors.
•  Disconnect the driver and passenger-side front pre-tensioner seat belt connectors.
•  Disconnect the driver and passenger-side rear pre-tensioner seat belt connectors.
•  Inspect the applicable connector and terminal.
•  Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for a short to ground.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for an open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

INSPECT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
•  Inspect the applicable circuit for an open circuit.
•  Is the circuit normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
Repair completion verification 1
VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED
•  Switch the ignition off.
•  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more.
•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.
•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module.
•  Is the same Pending DTC present?
Yes
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the SAS control module, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2
VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED
•  Perform the DTC inspection.
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
