POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Caution
•  When replacing the PLG control module, it is necessary to set the fully open position again after replacement. Therefore, measure the PLG fully open position in advance. If the PLG control module is replaced, the PLG will open to an unexpected position and the vehicle could be damaged because the changed fully open position is cleared.

1.  When replacing the PLG control module, measure the PLG fully open position.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)
(4)  Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the bolts.

5.  Remove the cargo net hooks.

6.  Remove the fasteners.

7.  Move the trunk side trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure while detaching the clip.

8.  Partially peel back the trunk side trim.

9.  Disconnect the connectors.

10.  Remove the screw and bolts in the order of (1) and (2).

11.  Remove the PLG control module.

12.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

13.  When the PLG control module is replaced, using the following procedure:

(1)  Fully open the power liftgate.
(2)  Switch the ignition ON (engine on) and wait for 1 s or more to complete the global central configuration (GCC) for the power liftgate control module and synchronization between the power liftgate control module and the following parts.
•  Body control module (BCM)
•  Electrical supply unit (ESU)
•  Driver-side door-electrical supply unit
(3)  Clear the DTC. (See CLEARING DTC.)
(4)  Change the power liftgate fully open position to the position measured before replacing the PLG control module. (See POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) FULLY OPEN POSITION CHANGE.)
