•  The PCM cannot control the idle speed toward the target idle speed during the KOER self test.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION OR SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY

•  Verify related Service Bulletins, on-line repair information, or Service Information availability.

•  Is any related Information available?

Yes

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available information.

•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT FOR OTHER RELATED DTCs

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-X)].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT A/C MAGNETIC CLUTCH OPERATION

•  Turn the A/C switch off.

•  Is the magnetic clutch still on?

Yes

Perform the symptom troubleshooting “A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY”.

(See A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY [SKYACTIV-X].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT DRIVE-BY-WIRE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION

•  Perform the Drive-by-wire Control System Inspection.
(See ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X].)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE

•  Perform the Purge Control System Inspection.
(See PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

•  Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

(See PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT AIR CLEANER ELEMENT FOR MALFUNCTION

•  Remove the air cleaner element with the engine is running.
(See AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

•  Does the engine speed increase?

Yes

Clean or replace the air cleaner element and perform the repair completion verification.

(See AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT THROTTLE BODY PASSAGE

•  Visually inspect the throttle body passage.

•  Is the throttle body passage dirty and/or restricted?

Yes

Clean or replace the throttle body passage and perform the repair completion verification.

(See THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT ENGINE COMPRESSION

•  Inspect the engine compression.
(See COMPRESSION INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)

•  Are compression pressures within specification?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.

VERIFY INTEGRATED STARTER GENERATOR (ISG) DTCs

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the integrated starter generator (ISG).
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [INTEGRATED STARTER GENERATOR (ISG)].)

No

Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 1

VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED

•  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure.

•  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
(See CLEARING DTC.)

•  Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure.

―  Perform the KOER self test.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Is the same Pending DTC present?

Yes

Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.

(See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [(E)].)

If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.

•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

Repair completion verification 2

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED

•  Perform the DTC inspection.
(See DTC INSPECTION.)

•  Are any other DTCs displayed?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.

4	INSPECT A/C MAGNETIC CLUTCH OPERATION • Turn the A/C switch off. • Is the magnetic clutch still on?	Yes	Perform the symptom troubleshooting “A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY”. (See A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY [SKYACTIV-X].)
4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT DRIVE-BY-WIRE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION • Perform the Drive-by-wire Control System Inspection. (See ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X].) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	INSPECT PURGE SOLENOID VALVE • Perform the Purge Control System Inspection. (See PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	INSPECT AIR CLEANER ELEMENT FOR MALFUNCTION • Remove the air cleaner element with the engine is running. (See AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].) • Does the engine speed increase?	Yes	Clean or replace the air cleaner element and perform the repair completion verification. (See AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-X 2.0].)
7		No	Go to the next step.

10		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED • Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory.
