BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR INSPECTION [(E)]

Without Mazda M Hybrid

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

2.  Remove the following parts as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

•  Air hose
•  Air cleaner cover
•  Air cleaner element
•  Air cleaner case
•  Fresh-air duct

3.  Remove the battery. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

4.  Remove the battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

5.  Disconnect the vacuum hose from the clip. (See VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.8].)

6.  Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector. (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D. (E)].) (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)

7.  Inspect for continuity according to fluid level between the brake fluid level sensor terminals.

•  If not as indicated in the table, replace the reserve tank. (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L.H.D. (E)].) (See MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [R.H.D.].)


With Mazda M Hybrid

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

3.  Verify that the fluid level (PID: BRK_FLD_STAT) changes according to the brake fluid reserve tank fluid level.

(See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE UNIT].)

•  If it cannot be verified, replace the electronically controlled brake unit.
