Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1
PERFORM DASH-ELECTRICAL SUPPLY UNIT DTC INSPECTION
•  Perform the dash-electrical supply unit DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT AIR FILTER FOR CLOGGING
•  Is the air filter clogged?
Yes
Replace the air filter.
Go to step 10.
No
Go to the next step.
3
VERIFY BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
•  Set the airflow volume control switch to MAX.
•  Does the blower motor rotate?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the following symptom troubleshooting.
4
VERIFY AIRFLOW CONDITION
•  Set the airflow mode to VENT mode.
•  Turn the A/C switch off.
•  Set the airflow volume control switch to MAX.
•  Does sufficient air flow from the vents when the airflow mode is in VENT mode?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.
5
VERIFY AIRFLOW CONDITION
•  Set the airflow mode to HEAT mode.
•  Turn the A/C switch off.
•  Set the airflow volume control switch to MAX.
•  Does sufficient air flow from the vents when the airflow mode is in HEAT mode?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.
6
VERIFY AIRFLOW CONDITION
•  Set the airflow mode to DEFROSTER mode.
•  Turn the A/C switch off.
•  Set the airflow volume control switch to MAX.
•  Does sufficient air flow from the vents when the airflow mode is in DEFROSTER mode?
Yes
Go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY DUCT INSTALLATION CONDITION
•  Is the duct under any of the following conditions? Clogging Deformation Air leakage Poor installation
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Install the incorrectly installed ducts properly, then go to Step 10.
8
VERIFY AIRFLOW MODE LINK OPERATION
•  Verify the operation by manually operating the airflow mode link.
•  Does the airflow mode link operate smoothly?
Yes
Replace the A/C unit because there is a malfunction in the airflow mode door.
Go to Step 10.
No
Replace the airflow mode link.
Go to Step 10.
9
VERIFY EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
•  Inspect the evaporator temperature sensor.
•  Is the evaporator temperature sensor normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the evaporator temperature sensor.
Go to Step 10.
Repair completion verification
VERIFY THAT MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM DOES NOT RECUR AFTER REPAIR
•  Is air discharged from vent?
•  Does air flow from the vent while in each airflow mode?
Yes
Troubleshooting completed.
Explain repairs to customer.
No
Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
